Loyola University Chicago's International Law Review (ILR) invites legal scholars and practitioners to submit manuscripts to be considered for publication in the Spring 2026 issue, 22 Loy. U. Chi. Int’l L. Rev. __ (2026). Below, we describe the issue's thematic scope and the submission procedure.
In this issue, we will feature original research exploring "International Criminal Justice and Accountability." The discussion should focus on whether existing international governing bodies, such as the ICC/UN, are adequately equipped to hold individuals accountable for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and related atrocities. Additionally, the conversation should explore both the effectiveness and legitimacy of these institutions: Are they truly advancing justice, or functioning largely as symbolic bodies that struggle to prevent or prosecute such crimes? By expanding upon these varying aspects of justice and accoumtability, the Spring 2026 issue aims to contribute to discussions on both the situation and trajectory of contemporary international law.
If you are interested, please submit your relevant manuscript and current resume/curriculum vitae (including contact information) through Scholastica or to InternationalLawReview@luc.edu. We are only considering authors who have a J.D. or equivalent degree (Please note: We are unable to consider work from students currently enrolled in JD or equivalent programs). Each submission must be between 30-45 pages, double-spaced, in Times New Roman, with 1” margins, and contain more than 100 citations. The priority deadline for submissions is December 22, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. (US CST), and we anticipate communicating our decisions by early January 2026.
